Easter can be a sign of spring and with spring comes all new activities! Here are some ‘outside of the box’ ideas for this Easter.
Time Capsule
Have your kiddo’s write a letter to themselves. It could be a list of their favorite things at the time, goals and plans for the summer etc. Place in a plastic Easter egg and have them open it on Easter next year. You can also save them to open even further in the future.
Night Egg Hunt
Place glow sticks inside the eggs along with treats and have an Easter egg hunt in the dark! Gloomy day and can’t get outside? Hide the eggs around the house and turn out the lights. Equip each kid with a flashlight and let the hunt begin!
Egg Puzzler
Place a piece of a puzzle in each egg. They can create the puzzle as they find the eggs leading them to how many eggs are left to find. Don’t have a puzzle small enough? Create one by cutting up a picture.
Splatter Egg Coloring
This craft takes a bit more adult supervision and is quite messy but is fun for everyone. The end result is a colorful masterpiece.
- Using a butter knife, gently crack just the top, narrow part of the egg off. Empty the eggs into a bowl for scrambled eggs in the future.
- Gently wash the shells out.
- Fill the shells with washable paint. Each shell should contain a different color.
- Glue a piece of tissue paper to the egg, covering up the hole.
- Place a blank canvas, poster or butcher paper vertically in an area that is allowed to handle messes.
- Take turns throwing shells at the canvas and create a splatter masterpiece while having a blast!

To avoid the inevitable mess, you can also fill the eggs with confetti and throw on the ground for an explosive surprise.
