The snow may be taking it’s time to show up here in Denver, but that beautiful white stuff is starting to fall in the high country! Normally, by now we’ve already switched to sweaters and scarves, but some of us are still wearing shorts and sandals. Don’t be fooled! Winter is coming. Prepare yourselves.
When it’s slow to cool down, many don’t bother taking inventory on winter gear. Rookie mistake. This is the perfect time to stock up if your head has been stuck in the summer clouds.
2016-2017 Weather Predictions
The Farmer’s Almanac is predicting that the 2016/2017 winter is going to be a very cold one. Even as far south as Florida could get occasional frigid weather patterns. Our coasts are expected to get hit with storms that will produce above average precipitation. The predicted lower than average temperatures nationwide could mean a lot of snow!
In addition to the Farmer’s Almanac predictions, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is predicting for a La Niña weather pattern. While there are a lot of variables and details that go into La Niña, one thing we like to hear is that it forecasts similar winter weather as the Famer’s Almanac. NOAA calls for the La Niña effects to be very strong in the fall. So, it could be very cold sooner than we expect.
Does this get you as excited for winter as it does us?! If you’re in panic mode wondering if you’ve waited too long to outfit the family for cold and snow, don’t stress. WinterKids is here for you.
