How to Navigate the Black Friday Deals

Black Friday and Cyber Monday are known for getting your holiday shopping done at reasonable prices. With many companies having sales, it can be overwhelming to decide what the best deals are and where you should spend your time looking. While many large, well-known businesses broadcast their sales all over, there’s something to say about the littler guys around this time of year.
Bigger companies often draw consumers in with flashy advertising. Remember, you’re not the only one seeing all those advertisements. Often, these deals have very limited availability. Many retailers will only have maybe 100 units or less available. This can lead to less than ideal odds that you’ll get what you’re looking for. Smaller businesses may not have the loud advertisements at every corner, but that can be an advantage to the shopper that steers away from the big businesses. Many people also look only to the high priced items for deals. Some may think there aren’t as good of deals with items such as winter apparel, but that is false. The daily price tag isn’t quite as high as items such as electronics, but don’t pass the smaller deals up! There still are great savings to be had with the less flashy items.
Many of the deals that seem too good to be true, while may be true, have stipulations. For example, there is a retailer advertising a flat screen TV for a very affordable price. What it doesn’t make clear on the advertisement is, it’s a limited edition created for that particular retailer. This means the usual features you’d expect to see from that brand, won’t be present on this particular TV. A deals a deal, but just make sure you know exactly what comes with the deal. Taking advantage of the Black Friday winter apparel deals avoids that uncertainty. There are no special edition apparel items that come out just for the holidays. They don’t cut corners on quality just so a better offer can be made.
Speaking of quality, make sure not only that the item you are purchasing is a well trusted, known brand, but it’s also coming from a trusted source. Many trustworthy companies will have a BBB accreditation visible on their website. For example, WinterKids visibly provides this on every page as well as a link to see the comments and ratings we’ve scored. This can be a good sign that a business wishes to be honest with the customers and efficiently help in any way they can.
Smaller businesses often provide higher quality customer service than that of the major retailers. This is especially important after the chaos and hype of Black Friday and Cyber Monday have died down. Smaller businesses are more willing to work with the customer if there is an issue with the order. When you call the help desk, you actually get to talk to a human on the other end, who will listen to your concerns and help you through them. Or, when you email the support address, you receive a response in a timely manner that is tailored to your issue. That is often what you get when you decide to go with the lesser known “door buster” deals for the holidays.
As with the rest of the retail world, WinterKids will be participating in some great deals for the holiday season all kicking off this Thursday. If you haven’t done so already, make sure to create an account with us to be the first to know when the deals hit. You can also check the website for holiday updates. And as always, if you have any questions, feel free to leave them in the comments below. From everyone here at WinterKids, Happy Thanksgiving and happy shopping!
